Spearhead Gus Seebeck led the Eagles to an emphatic 122 point victory over the St George Dragons with an amazing haul of thirteen goals.
Gus was unstoppable up front and added to the big haul was the fact that he kicked thirteen goals without a miss. Yes, thirteen straight goals without a miss. It was a great display by the big full forward who looks to be in career best form.
Gus had some great support on the day as Luke Stanford, Shane Ryan and Jon Vlatko were in total control in the middle, from the first siren to the end of the game. Ben Rogers also bounced back to form with five goals and showed he is also nearing his best again.
The final scoreboard was the Eagles 29.9 (183) to the Dragons 9.7 (61).
The Division One team showed improved form and were never threatened by St George running out winners 16.15 (111) to 4.2 (26).
What was most pleasing was the improved form of young guns Ash Moeller and Damian Gatte. They were well supported by Cory Durie and Darren Chapman and Tim Coakley continued his good form.
Coach Jason Duss and the team now look forward to the big test the Students will prove to be this weekend.
The Division Two team continues to work hard under Coach Sean Streat but could not quite get over the line against Manly. Playing in very difficult conditions the Eagles did not adjust to the windy conditions as well as the Wolves who ran out winners by 45 points.
