Eagles fall at last hurdle

The Eagles entered the BLK AFL Sydney Premier Division Grand Final last Sunday having experienced a wonderful minor round season in which they suffered only the one defeat. The run continued in the second semi-final with a victory over Pennant Hills enabling them to transfer directly to the Grand Final.

Their opponents once again would be Pennant Hills with the Demons defeating St George in the Preliminary Final. The scene was set for yet another local derby between the two Hills based clubs who have been long time rivals.

But the fairy tale season would end in a hurry for the Eagles at Henson Park in Marrickville as they were no match on the day for a rampaging Pennant Hills side who, after three quarter time, dominated the final term to kick eight goals and go on to win by 35 points – 14.5 (89) to 7.12 (54).

There were no excuses cialis online 20 from the Eagles. They were simply not good enough when it counted at critical times in the match and the major prize in Sydney footy eluded them in season 2015.

Best for the Eagles were Blake Anderson, Stu Turner, Andrew McConnell, Andrew Browning, Aaron Savage and Jamie Vlatko.
Goalkickers: Jamie Vlatko 3, Scott Reed, Andrew McConnell, Jack Dimery & Trent Stubbs.

The Eagles will acknowledge all players and supporters who have contributed to its otherwise successful return to Sydney football at the annual Club Champion evening on Saturday October 31st in the Lyceum Auditorium at Castle Hill RSL. Despite falling at the last hurdle, there is much to celebrate as the Club finishes a very difficult year during which it recovered from the precarious position it found itself in 15 months ago.

Tickets are available by contacting the club through info@eastcoasteagles.com.au  or ringing 0419 264159.

This week’s Round 10 top of the table clash between the East Coast Eagles and Manly will see veteran AFL Sydney field umpire Frank Kalayzich umpire his 500th First Grade Sydney match.  An amazing effort indeed. Congratulations to him.

It’s the first time Frank has had an Eagles game this year and we’re delighted that his 500th is a fixture which involves East Coast.

A great story about Frank’s umpiring career, history and testimonials can be found by clicking on Frank’s picture above.

Not only will Frank be umpiring, but his two fellow field umpires are names you will know very well.  Hayden Kennedy, the man who holds the all-time AFL umpiring record of 495 senior games, officiated in five AFL Grand Finals and who retired in 2011 cheap cialis generic online will umpire with Frank to recognise his achievement.

Completing the trifecta is “Razor Ray” Chamberlain, a former Sydney umpire who has now gone on to the big stage at the national AFL level.  Ray will be umpiring the Swans v Richmond clash at the SCG on Friday night and in a wonderful gesture to Frank has agreed to stay and umpire the Eagles v Manly clash with him, which is also the AFL Sydney Match of the Day.   Ray started his umpiring career in Sydney footy and we welcome him back for this brief return to his footballing roots.

For those of you who cannot make it out to Weldon Oval this Saturday June 27th, the 2.30pm match will be live streamed at  https://www.youtube.com/user/aflsydneylive

Extravaganza groups and rules released for 2015

Let me open up Eagles Extravaganza for you

A tradition which started at Baulkham Hills with “Baulko Bonanza” and then continued at East Coast with “Eagles Extravaganza” has been re-introduced for Season 2015.

Those who know how a Calcutta works will instantly understand the concept, however the guidelines and lots of helpful hints and suggestions are included in the booklet titled Eagles Extravaganza Rules & Groups.  Click on our mean lookin’ Oscar the Eagle and let him open up the document for you.  Oscar will be the Extravaganza boss this year.

On Friday evening March 27th at the Jumper Presentation Night the groups will be auctioned off by Richard Lee and we expect there will be spirited bidding from the room. This is the only place and time where bids can be made. So if you want to make a bid or form a syndicate to do so, but can’t make it to the Shear Bar in the Fiddler then study the Form, make a decision and get someone to bid on your behalf …. or get on your get provigil without prescription mobile.

That has happened before and in a memorable 2007 Extravaganza we had bidders from London and Los Angeles on telephones participating in proceedings. Probably accounted for the fact that the pool grew to a record, still to be beaten $37,700!

It’s a lot of fun on the night and even more so during the season when it all unfolds. This year weekly award payments will be accumulated and paid monthly by EFT to successful groups’ bank accounts. The big winning money, based on B&F votes counted at Club Champion Night at the Castle Hill RSL Lyceum auditorium on Saturday October 31st, will also be paid by EFT on following Monday.

We hope you can enter into the spirit of things and assist the Club at the same time. The Eagles receive 25% of the accumulated pool and the 75% left is distributed to winning bidders in the manner described within the document.

Best of luck to all intending bidders ….

During the season we will provide weekly updates on this page.
